The Dental Library can obtain books and copies of journal articles for you that are not owned by the University Library System, through our Interlibrary Loan services. Interlibrary Loan may be used by all Dental School faculty, staff, and students.
Submitting Requests:
Requests for books or journal articles may be submitted either by filling out a paper form, which can be obtained from the Dental Library Circulation Desk, or by filling out an electronic form for Book or
Journal requests on our web site.
Book Requests:
Books may be borrowed from other libraries only if the Penn Libraries do not own the title, or if our copy is lost or is missing pages.
Journal Requests:
If your journal article request is the result of a MEDLINE search, please include the unique identifier number, which can be found at the top of each citation, on the interlibrary loan request form. This information will speed your request along through
the document delivery process.
Delivery Methods:
Journal articles
May be viewed and downloaded through WebDoc@Penn Library, picked up at the Dental Library Circulation Desk, or sent to your office through intramural mail.
Books
May be picked up at the Circulation Desk. You will be notified when the book has arrived.
Penn LOANSOME DOC:
Penn Loansome Doc is a fee-based service for photocopying articles from journals held in
the Dental Library. The service is currently restricted to journals indexed by MEDLINE.
Document requests must be submitted using the National Library of Medicine's Loansome Doc
software. See our Penn Loansome Doc web site
for details.
